Article writing is a popular way to increase your visibility on the internet and bring attention to your website. It is important to remember however, that not all attention is equal. The point of writing and publishing content is to inform, entertain, and interest the reader and ultimately, increase traffic to your website. Content that is ill formed or off topic can produce the opposite results through downgraded search engine ratings and placement on page five instead of page one of a reader's search results.
The internet is jam packed with content created to appeal to a specific demographic and pull them to a particular website. Some of this content is excellent and performs its function well, but a significant portion of it falls well below the average. The highest proportion of these less than acceptable articles, are those that were carelessly written and include haphazard grammar and atrocious spelling. If an article is difficult to understand, the reader, who is also a prospective customer, will abandon both the article and the writer for other, better-written selections.
Another group of poor quality content is that which does not provide the reader with information they need but through clever key wording or enticing titles, leads the reader to believe is included in the writing. At first glance, articles written in this manner would seem to fulfill their purpose of drawing readers but in actuality, they fail to deliver the all-important click through. Without this crucial second step, the purpose of the article is defeated and the marketer is no better off financially then before the misleading content was published.
When using article writing to increase website traffic, keep in mind that quality always counts. The extra time it take to review and edit the work, will pay off in readership and eventually, sales.
